Melbourne Section Auction Night

You are invited to the VAA Melbourne Section “Auction Night” on Thursday, 29th June 2023.

Venue: VAA MS meeting - The Avenue Church of Christ Surrey Hills
1 The Avenue, Surrey Hills

Meeting starts at 7:15pm with the Auction likely to start about 8pm.

Please respond, by expressing interest below, if you will attend with items to sell, with hopes to buy or both! This will ensure that we have a busy, exciting and profitable event.

The conditions of the auction are further down this page.

For enquiries, please contact vaamelbournesection@hotmail.com, or Rob Kerr on 0421 078 387 or Mike Love on ‭0427 369 152‬.

Conditions of the Auction:

1. The items are to be brought to the meeting (venue) so that they can be passed to the buyer at the meeting. If you think that the item(s) is too difficult or large to bring to the meeting venue, please bring some good photos / videos of the items.

2. If the bought item is at the venue, then the seller must hand the item over to the buyer on the night. If the item is not at the venue on the night, the seller and buyer must arrange among themselves an item transfer process.

3. The item(s) must be in good order and as clean as practicable.

4. The item(s) must be registered with a declaration that the seller is not aware of any exposure to AFB.

5. The seller may set a reserve price for items.

6. The order of auctioning items will be determined by the Auctioneer and Auction Stewards while accommodating any requests if it works ok for the Auction Night.

7. The auctioneer may break a registered item into multiple items for auction if these items are more palatable to the buying crowd.

8. The auctioneer may refuse a bid that is manifestly inadequate for the reasonable value of the item.

9. The auctioneer is not infallible, but is to be respected, and has the final say in the auctioning of any item.

10. The seller or a representative may bid to start the Auction. Bidding to drive the price up is not acceptable.

11. The seller may not withdraw the item from sale once the auction for that item has commenced.

12. The buyer must settle on the night. Cash or bank transfer is acceptable. Card payments will be accepted via SquareUp card reader.

13. Sellers must be prepared to provide their BSB and Account Number to receive payment from the VAA MS. Cash may be paid if there are sufficient funds.

14. If sold, the percentage to go to the VAA MS is 10% of the final bid on the item.

15. Final Note: If there is found to be insufficient interest in the Auction night, from sellers in particular, then the Auction night may be replaced with another activity. Members will be informed if this is necessary.
