Varroa Mite Management in Victoria

guidance for beekeepers

Start Here: what you must do now

I don't have mites yet

You need to monitor and prepare.  You will certainly get mites soon.  Keep an eye on the spread with the heat map and start regular monitoring.

Monitoring (how to do a mite test)

I have mites in my hive

If you don't treat your bees will die.   Options include both organic and synthetic chemicals. There are some mechanical measures you can take, but these are less effective and are unlikely to be sufficient during the first few years of mite invasion.

You should continue to perform mite monitoring every month.
