VAA Child Safe Policy

6 Nov 2025 3:00 PM | Tino Corsetti (Administrator)

VAA's Child Safe Project

As you may be aware, under Victoria’s Child Safe Standards (2022) and the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 (Vic), all Victorian not-for-profit organisations that provide services or facilities for children are required to comply with the 11 Child Safe Standards.

These standards require organisations to embed child safety into their governance, policies, training, reporting, and risk management systems. As the State peak body for beekeepers, the Victorian Apiarists’ Association (VAA) recognises the important role that clubs play in community education and engagement.

We also appreciate the time and effort involved in meeting these compliance requirements. To support beekeeping organisations in our state, we have attached the VAA Child Safe Policy, Code of Conduct, and Procedures. This document may be a useful reference as your bee club reviews or develops your own child-safe framework.

Please note that the VAA recognises that this document may not be directly applicable to every club. Each organisation is responsible for ensuring that its own policies and procedures meet the requirements of Victoria’s Child Safe Standards (2022) and the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 (Vic).

Beekeeping Clubs that are affiliated with the VAA are welcome to nominate their Child Safety Officer to be part of the working group on implementation and continuous improvement.

If you have any questions about this material or wish to discuss approaches to implementation, please feel free to contact Tony Wilsmore, VAA Board Child Safety Officer via childsafe@vicbeekeepers.com.au or 0400 817 146.
